Councilwoman Shabazz's
Accomplishments
An informed, active citizenry is vital to the sustainability of our democracy
and this citizenry is most empowered at the local level. When residents
know “how” they can be involved, they become citizens who carry out their
civic responsibilities and assist local government to be more effective.
Sponsored legislation which established the
Wilmington
Youth Leadership Commission
empowering 35 high school
students to serve as advisors and youth advocates to the
Mayor and City Council in the shaping of public policy
